Set Up Guide


Accessing the Online Checkout Tool

From your dashboard, select All Tools from the top left of the navigation bar.  

Then, click on Online Store. 

A banner will appear, prompting you to take your business online. Click on Setup Your Store. 


Steps to Set Up Your Online Checkout

Step 1 :  Business Details

Enter your business address, contact information, and business hours.

  • Business location - Your business location is pre-filled based on information from your sign up application. However, these fields can be edited to reflect new changes.
  • Contact information - Your contact information is also pre-filled with the information you provided during your sign up, but can also be edited. 
  • Business hours - Add your business hours by clicking on Add Store Hours

Once you have added your business hours, click Save to be brought back to the main screen and proceed to the next section.


Step 2 : Merchant Policies

In this section, you can write out your Return, Shipping, and Privacy Policy.

  • You will need to have a Return Policy to activate your Online Checkout. To make things easier for you, we provide a template you can use and edit.
  • While we do not require that you have a  Shipping Policy to set up your Online Checkout, we highly recommended that you have one in place if you are planning to ship products your products to customers. We also provide a Shipping Policy Template.
  • We also do not require you to have a Privacy Policy. However, a Privacy Policy is important if you use your customer's information will be managed in any way. Helcim does not not offer a template for Privacy Policies because this policy is an agreement between you and your customers, and will vary depending on how you use your customer's data.

How to Use Our Policy Templates

We provide templates for Return and Shipping Policies. To use our provided templates, click on Use Template. These templates can be easily edited as desired by editing the text in the text box. 


Step 3 : Checkout Details

At this time, you can choose to offer either shipping OR pickup through your Online Checkout.

Shipping Option

  • Offer Shipping Service is toggled ON by default
  • To create a shipping fee, click on Add Region
  • Your Shipping region will be pre-selected as the country you are located in, you can click on the drop down to change this. 
  • To add a shipping method, click on Add Shipping Method. In the empty text field, enter the name of your shipping method. 
  • Under Charge shipping cost by, you have the option to add shipping cost by weight of the product or based on the total price of the order. Start adding your shipping rates by clicking on Add new. You are able to delete specific shipping ranges by clicking on the trash bin icon. 

Please note: you are required to have at least 1 shipping range added to save a shipping method.

After adding a shipping method for your region, hit Save to go back to the main screen, or click Add region to add another shipping region. Adding a new shipping region allows you to offer shipping to multiple countries. 

Free Shipping

  • You can offer free shipping for your products by toggling on Offer Free Shipping and entering a minimum order amount
  • To offer free shipping on all your orders, set the minimum order amount to $0.00

Edit or Delete a Shipping Region

You can make changes to your shipping methods through the Checkout Details tab in Online Store Settings. Click the 3 dots for the region you would like to change and select Edit or Delete.




Pick Up Option

You can toggle Offer Pick up service to allow customers to pick up products directly from your store. Please note that toggling ON Offer Pick up service will automatically turn off shipping. 



  • Preparation time - Is the time it takes you to prepare an order. Click on the ? to get more information about this feature
  • Time Interval - Refers to the time slot between each order
  • Order Limit - You are able to set a limit for the number of orders that can be placed in a given time interval. Leaving this value at 0 will allow for an unlimited number of orders in a given interval
  • Allow Pre-Order - Gives you the option to allow customers to place orders in advance. When turned on, you can specify the number of days in advance a customer can place an order
  • Enable Tip - This feature can be toggled ON to accept tips at checkout. Tip options can be based on a percentage or dollar value. You are also able to set recommended tip amounts and a default amount if desired. Only one tip amount can be selected as the default at a given time, and you can make changes to the default tip option by clicking Edit.


Step 4 :  Store Design

Domain Name

By default your domain name is your DBA (Doing Business As) based on your sign up application with the extension .helcim.app.  

If you would like to update your domain name, please contact our Merchant Experience team at help@helcim.com or call 1-877-643-5246. You cannot remove the .helcim.app from the domain name, but the subdomain can be updated.

For example, business-name-ltd.helcim.app might be updated to business-name.helcim.app or businessname.helcim.app

Customizing Your Store

You can now hit Save or Publish and your store is ready to go! If you would like to customize the logo, colour, or other visual elements of your store, click Customize


Hitting Save without customizing your store will take you to the last page of the set up process where you can do the following: 

  1. Add products
  2. Publish your store
  3. View settings


Hitting Publish at this point without customizing your store will bring you to the final page in the set up process with the following options:

  1. Add Products
  2. View Store
  3. View Settings


By clicking Customizeyou can change the Style of your page by choosing a theme colour, adding a logo, and a cover photo.


By clicking on Content, you can add a banner to inform your customers about promotions, special offers, and notices. Add some information about your store in About Us section. You are also able to link your social media accounts to your website by toggling Social Media Links.

 

Once you are finished customizing your store, click Save or Publish. 

Hitting Save will take you to the last page of the set up process where you can do the following: 

  1. Add products
  2. Publish your store
  3. View settings


Hitting Publish will bring you to the final page in the set up process with the following options:

  1. Add Products
  2. View Store
  3. View Settings
