Logs

Prev Next

Security and transparency go hand in hand. The Logs report page acts as your business's digital security camera, maintaining a strict audit trail of everything happening behind the scenes in your account. Whether you want to double-check which employee updated a setting, track employee login locations, or monitor your technical software connections, this page groups that data into four clear logs so you are always in control of your account security.

To view this data, click on Reporting from the left-hand navigation menu and select the Logs tab.

What features does it have?

The Logs dashboard is broken into four distinct tabs, each tracking a specific type of background activity:

  • User logs

  • User access logs

  • API logs

  • API error logs

Processing fees may take up to 3 business days to be displayed on your dashboard.

User Logs

This tab records general administrative actions taken inside your account by your team. It displays:

  • Log date: The exact date and time the activity took place.

  • User id and User name: The unique identification number and name of the team member who performed the action.

  • Log entry: A brief description of the specific action taken (e.g., changing a setting or updating account details).

User access logs

This tab is focused entirely on account security and tracking who is logging into your platform. It displays:

  • Log date: The timestamp of the login attempt.

  • User id and User name: Who tried to access the account.

  • Ip address: The unique internet address pointing to the device and location used to log in.

  • Login result: Confirms whether the login attempt was successful or failed.

API Logs

If you connect your Helcim account to an external online store, software, or custom application, this tab tracks those digital handshakes. It displays:

  • Log date and IP address: When and where the request originated.

  • Method and URL: The specific type of command sent and the web address it targeted.

  • Status and Duration (ms): Confirms if the connection worked and exactly how many milliseconds it took to process.

API error logs

When an external software connection hits a snag, this tab isolates the issue so you or your web developer can fix it quickly. It displays:

  • Log date and Ip address: The timestamp and source of the broken connection.

  • Request data: The specific information your external software tried to send to Helcim.

  • Response: The automated system error message explaining exactly why Helcim rejected the request.

The 'API Error Logs' report is a helpful tool for checking on the most recent API activities if you're trying to diagnose an issue with an integration.

How do I use the Logs report page?

The interface gives you a straightforward set of tools to sort through system events, customize your view, or download your security records.

Filtering and searching your logs

System logs accumulate data quickly, but you can target specific events instantly using these features:

  • Using the date filter: Click on the Date Selector quick filter at the top of your report to isolate logs from a specific day, week, or custom timeframe.

  • Using the search bar: Head to the top right corner of the page to find matching events. You can search your tables instantly by typing in a specific user name, user ID, IP address, or keyword.

Customizing your table layout

You don't need a cluttered screen when auditing your security data. You can adjust your table columns and screen layout by clicking the column customization button. This tool allows you to check or uncheck specific data fields so your ledger only displays the metrics relevant to your current search.

Exporting your data

If you need to hand off an audit trail to a security partner, compliance officer, or web developer:

  1. Set your desired date filters.

  2. Click the Download button.

  3. Your system will instantly generate a .csv file containing all your filtered system logs.

FAQs

Why would I need to look at my API error logs?

If your online storefront suddenly stops pushing orders through to your Helcim account, your API error logs will show you the exact error message Helcim sent back to your website. You can share this response data directly with your web developer to solve the integration issue in minutes.

What should I do if I see an unfamiliar IP address under my user access logs?

First, check with your team members—they might be logging in from home or using a cellular network, which changes their IP address. If the login result says "failed" and nobody on your team recognizes the attempt, it means your security filters worked and kept them out.

Can I delete or clear old logs to clean up my dashboard?

No. To maintain strict security compliance and preserve a reliable audit trail for your business protection, system logs are permanent and cannot be modified or deleted by any user level on the account.
