    How to get started


    We've streamlined the setup process to make it as easy as possible. Here's how it works.

    The steps below depend on whether you are an existing owner of a Helcim Smart Terminal, or are ordering a new one.

    1. Request your free SIM card: Contact our support team at 1-877-643-5246 or submit a support ticket with the subject "Mobile Data Plan."

      • We'll ship a free Helcim SIM card directly to you.

      • Once it arrives, scan the QR code on the instruction card for step-by-step guidance or follow the steps below.

    2. Activate your SIM card: Once you receive the SIM, call our support team at 1-877-643-5246 for quick activation.

    3. Install the SIM card:

      Before proceeding, make sure you’ve updated your terminal to the latest version.

      • Power off your Smart Terminal.

      • Remove the back cover and battery.

      • Insert the SIM card into Slot 1 (Standard size: 15mm x 25mm).

      • Reassemble the Smart Terminal and power it back on.

    4. Enable mobile data:

      • After powering on your Smart Terminal, tap Settings on the Welcome Screen.

      • Navigate to Hardware Settings > Network Settings.

      • Toggle Mobile Data on.

    1. Order the terminal with a SIM Card: Visit the Equipment Store in your Helcim account. Select your Smart Terminal and add the free Helcim SIM card at checkout. Your Smart Terminal will arrive with the SIM card pre-installed.

    How do I request a SIM card?

    Existing Smart Terminal owners can contact our support team (1-877-643-5246) or submit a support ticket. New Smart Terminal customers can select the Smart Terminal and the Mobile Data Plan SIM in the Equipment Store.

    How do I activate/deactivate my Mobile Data Plan?

    Once you receive your Helcim SIM Card or a Smart Terminal with a pre-installed SIM, contact our support team at 1-877-643-5246, and we’ll activate your Mobile Data Plan.

    To pause or deactivate your plan, simply reach out to our support team.

    What is the monthly charge?

    Free until July 2025. After, it's $7 USD or $9 CAD per month. This is a flexible month-to-month plan. If you're using a non-Helcim SIM, charges will depend on your carrier's rates.

    Can I use data for updates?

    No, firmware and app updates require Wi-Fi because of their size.

    What SIM card size is needed?

    Standard SIM (15mm x 25mm). We do not recommend using a smaller SIM, as it may not be recognized or could get stuck in the SIM slot.

    Can I use my own SIM?

    Yes! But for early access benefits (free service until July 2025) and guaranteed connectivity, you must use the Helcim SIM.
